Founder and Director
Dr. Gabe Goldman has been a Jewish educator since the 1970s—as a classroom teacher, community curriculum director, teacher trainer, school administrator, university professor and wilderness trip leader. Gabe is the founder and director of Outdoor Jewish Classroom and provides Jewish nature programs to Jewish schools, camps and organizations nationally. He is also a consultant for the Pittsburgh Jewish Early Childhood Initiative to help schools transform via Reggio Emilia practices with an emphasis on transforming the outdoors into natural Jewish learning/play environments and by making nature a co-teacher in the classroom. Gabe has a Doctoral Degree in Multicultural Education; learned his Jewish text skills at a Chassidic yeshiva; and his knowledge of nature and wilderness survival skills from Native Americans. He is also a master teacher of Jewish meditation practices, a former instructor at the Jewish spiritual retreat center Elat Chayyim, and the author of Meditations for the Spiritually Perplexed: A Jewish Meditation Primer. Gabe and Pam have been married for 42 years and have four children and five grandchildren.
