Night offers its own special opportunities to experience the outdoors.   We will spend this time enjoying the night sky, learning to identify easy to find constellations; learning to use the night sky to locate direction, and exploring the many ways the moon and stars are portrayed in Jewish myth and tradition.  (Did you know the ancient Israelites did not see the Big Dipper?)  Perhaps we will see a UFO (or at least discuss traditional Judaism’s views about extraterrestrial life). Participants will also have the opportunity to do a solo-silent sit where they will walk a short distance away from others and find a place to sit, and listen, and breathe, and be themselves.  There is also a good possibility that we will see several meteors from the Pereid meteor shower.
