Paradigm Project Fourth Annual Conference

As teachers, we are sharing a system of values with our students every day.  When approached intentionally, the values we uphold in our classroom can continue to support our students as they move forward in school, and, hopefully, as they interact with their community and the world around them.  In this presentation, we will discuss the ways in which we see Democratic and Jewish values overlap, and explore how we reinforce these values through our daily morning meeting-you may know this time of day as “Circle-time” or “Group-time”.  How do we give our students a “voice” (a say in things) and a sense of “agency” (the capacity to make choices)?  How might honoring these rights in our classroom help to prepare our students for elementary, middle, high school, or even college? This interactive session will include examples from the presenters' classroom of three and four year olds, and provide an interactive space to brainstorm ideas for your own classroom and routine.
