Center for Jewish Education
Director, Early Childhood Services
Baltimore, MD
Alison joined the CJE in February 2015 after over two decades in curriculum development and teaching. Originally from St. Louis, Alison earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Masters in Education from Emory University in Atlanta. After several years as a high school English teacher in Atlanta and New York, Alison worked at The New York Times for eight years as the education editor and product manager for NYTimes.com. She has since worked as a curriculum writer and editing consultant for Scholastic, The Jewish Lens, Insight Education Group, and other prominent leaders in secular and Jewish education. Alison founded and co-directed a congregation-based preschool in New York from 2004-2013, and enjoyed six summers as Rosh Omanut (head of the art department) at Ramah Day Camp in Nyack, NY.

Alison's passions as a Jewish communal professional in early childhood are in inspiring teachers to become second-tier leaders in their schools, working with directors to evaluate and ignite progressive change, and developing dynamic professional development opportunities. It's all about shifting the paradigm, and Alison loves being a part of the shift!
